World Record broken!
December 21, 2011 at 7:00 PM
On Sunday 18th December over 150 people attended St Luke’s Church and joined many others gathered in churches across the UK in an attempt to break the World Carol Singing Record. The final number of participants was 18,414. Once all supporting documents are received, they will be sent off to Guinness. Guinness usually takes 6 to 9 months to investigate and confirm world records… Plenty of patience required. Once the record is confirmed, all participating churches will received a certificate. However we think it can safely be assumed that we have beaten the existing record of just 15,000 singers - set in 2009.
Organised by Premier Christian Radio and sponsored by Bible Lands, the unified carol singing events included venues in Scotland, Cornwall, Wales and even Geneva. Would-be record holders sang carol classics Silent Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark The Herald Angels Sing, and Away in a Manger.
